The TerraCorps program is less than a year, but lasts a lifetime.

TerraCorps members help local nonprofits conserve and use land resources for a broad spectrum of community needs spanning the rural to urban landscape gradient. As a member, you will serve directly with a community-based organization to support the healthy growth of their communities while building your own professional network and skillset.

Interview with Service Sites

• Interview directly with your Service Sites of choice

Complete AmeriCorps Onboarding

• Complete AmeriCorps application packet
• Pass a criminal history check
• Complete administrative paperwork

Attend TerraCorps Orientation & Training

• Meet your supervisor & fellow TerraCorps members
• Gain programmatic overview
• Participate in professional development trainings

Serve With Your Host Organization

• Serve in your Coordinator role
• Receive ongoing support and training from TerraCorps
• Attend TerraCorps retreats and volunteer community service days

Benefits of Service for the 2025-26 Service Year

Our service member positions run annually from August through July. Service members in 2025-26 will receive:

  • A biweekly living allowance, before taxes, that amounts to $27,666 for the full service term.
  • A $7,395 AmeriCorps Segal Education Award upon satisfactory completion of the service term.
  • Health insurance coverage (if eligible).
  • Childcare benefits (if eligible).
  • Forbearance of most federally guaranteed student loans, and payment of interest accrued during service.
  • Qualified eligibility for SNAP benefits in Rhode Island and SNAP/HIP benefits in Massachusetts.
  • Mentorship, training, and career development opportunities while serving directly with community-based nonprofits.
