Laura Brockington

YEC with GreenRoots

Laura is the Youth Education Coordinator at GreenRoots Chelsea. She is originally from North Carolina, but is looking forward to living in the big city of Boston for the next year. She graduated from Elon University with a degree in Environmental and Ecological Science in 2017. She subsequently joined the Peace Corps as an Environmental Educator in Nicaragua. Unfortunately, Laura was evacuated after 9 months in country due to widespread civil unrest. She decided her Peace Corps journey was not over and re-enrolled to be a Community Environmental Conservation Volunteer in Panama. After 13 months there, she was evacuated again due to the COVID-19 pandemic ???? Although she has had some difficult transitions over the past few years, she is very excited to be continuing her passion for service and environmental stewardship with TerraCorps and GreenRoots. In her free time Laura loves to hike, bake, play ultimate frisbee, and cuddle with her Panamanian pup, Solana.
